Lindemans Faro Lambic
is a lambic that has matured on oak for one year to which sugar syrup is added.
Top fermented with the wild airborne yeasts specific to Belgium's Senne region, Lindemans Faro pours deep golden amber with a light white head.
The aromas of fruit, raisin and caramel give way to an equally sweet flavor profile with suggestions of brown sugar and marmalade.
The finish has a green-apple tartness. ABV is 5.0%.
From the Lindemans website:
Lambic is one of the world's oldest beers. According to some, it is also the best, even if its characteristic acidity does not please all palates. To offset this acidity, some decided to add sugar to it. Thus faro was born ... Until the 19th century, faro was very prevalent in the Brussels region. Folklore there was frequently associated with it, and the divine liquid flowed like water. Then faro fell into oblivion. It was not until 1978 that our family brought it back to centre stage. Or centre Senne, as you prefer. Particularly appreciated after physical exertion, faro is not only easy to drink, it is a joy to do so.
In the fields, workers drank a faro to regain their strength. Today, our faro is the perfect beer for recovering after physical exertion. It is the favourite beverage of amateur cyclists!
A wonderful aperitif; also try Faro with Belgian waffles, fish & shrimp tempura or oven-baked pork shanks, grilled goat cheese and pears, or the classic Belgian pairing: Belgian chocolate.
, initially a family farm in southwest Brussels, began commercial brewing operations in 1822. They specialized in Lambics – a unique style of wheat beer wholly dependent on wild airborne yeasts for fermentation as well as on an exceptionally long period of maturation up to 3 years.
Over time, brewery revenue gradually outpaced farming revenue and by 1930, the Lindemans family was able to cease farming operations altogether to concentrate fully on the brew business.
Today the brewery, still family owned, exports its award winning ales to a dozen countries including the US, where their ales outsell all other Lambics.

Great beer; hard to find in US

This is a pretty unique beer -- on the sweet side like all lambics but not sickly sweet. It's very drinkable and a good thirst quencher.
