Leffe Brune (ABV 6.5%) from Abbaye de Leffe (InBev) is a Belgian Brown Ale / Abbey Dubbel that pours deep reddish brown with a persistent, frothy beige head.

Aromas of sweet roasted malts with a bit of spice and dark fruit give an indication of the sweet, nutty taste, which is deepened by a hint of cocoa and very mild bitterness. Mouth feel is creamy and full, with moderate carbonation.

Food Pairings

Ideal paired with a variety of aperitifs and cheeses; particularly good with spicy, caramelized, or sweet and sour dishes.

Abbaye de Leffe was founded in 1152 on the Meuse River in Namur, Belgium. As in many monasteries across Europe, ales were brewed there for many centuries as part of the abbey's hospitality.

The abbey was abandoned and the brewery destroyed during the French Revolution. Religious life returned to the abbey in the 20th century, and in 1952 the monks partnered with a commercial brewer to produce Leffe beers according to their ancient recipes and traditions; today, royalties continue to benefit the abbey.
