Top fermented and bottle conditioned, Blanche de Namur (ABV 4.5%) from Du Bocq Brewery is an award-winning Witbier (or White Ale) named for Princess Blanche of Namur - daughter of John, Count of Namur - who was born in the region near the brewery in 1320. Blanche married King Magnus IV of Sweden in 1336, becoming Queen of Sweden and Norway. In memory of her "sweetness, beauty, and delicacy," the brewery dedicated their witbier to her.

Blanche de Namur pours a cloudy, pale golden color with a foamy white head and expressive carbonation.

Brewed with unmalted wheat and barley malt, and spiced with coriander, bitter orange peel, and a touch of brewer's licorice, its aromas include citrus, pepper, clove, and grain.

Taste follows the nose in a similar flavor profile. The finish is clean and dry, with a bit of thirst-quenching acidity. 16.9 oz. / 50 cl cans (4-can pack)

Food Pairings

Delicious with fish and shellfish, sushi, and seafood pasta. A great match to poultry and other white meats, also a very nice pairing with goat cheese. Refreshing with intensely-spiced dishes. Also try with fruit sorbet. Traditionally served in a tapering 250 ml (9 oz.) tumbler. Serve at 2 – 4 degrees C.

Du Bocq Brewery began as a family farm in Purnode, a town in the Belgian Ardennes near the small river Bocq. In 1858, farmer Martin Belot began selling commercially the top fermented ales he and his staff brewed during the winter months when there was very little work to do in the fields.

The fledgling brewery built a reputation for quality and over time, brewery revenue gradually outpaced farming revenue. By 1960, Du Bocq was concentrated fully on the brewing business.

Today the brewery, still owned by the Belot family and still located in Purnode, distributes award winning ales internationally and occasionally partners with other brew brands, like Corsendonk, to assist in production and marketing.
