Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien Grand Cru (2018 Les demons demi muids) (ABV 11%) from BFM (Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes) begins with their Abbaye de St. Bon-Chien, a strong sour ale of mixed fermentation, aged for a year in old oak wine barrels. This beer is aged further in 1935 fouders of Rasteau wines (Côtes-du-Rhône).

Brewed in 2018 and bottled in 2020, it pours deep reddish brown, offering an invitingly tart aroma with notes of dark fruit, wine, pepper, and spice. Savory, jammy, sour, and resinous, the flavor is satisfyingly complex, with a spicy finish.
BFM (Brasserie des Franches-Montagnes) is a small, artisanal brewery in Saignelégier, Jura, Switzerland, whose products, including barrel-aged beers, have drawn international acclaim. Founded in 1997 by Jérôme Rebetez, a trained oenologist, the brewery is known for making beers that stray outside traditional beer style guidelines and use unorthodox ingredients. The brewery takes its name from its home district.
