Podge Belgian Imperial Stout (ABV 10.5%) from Alvinne Brewery was originally brewed at the request of English beer connoisseur Chris "Podge" Pollard.

Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and bottle-conditioned, this strong stout is deep black in color with a small creamy head and complex aromas of roasted malts, coffee, and dark chocolate. It has a rich, silky mouthfeel, a slightly spicy flavor, low carbonation, and a long, dry finish.

Made with Pilsner plus six other malt varieties, dark candi sugar, Irish ale yeast, and English Challenger and East Kent Goldings hops. Can be cellared for 8 years or longer stored dark and upright at 54° F. 48 IBU. Ratebeer.com rating: 89 (out of 100) 11.2 oz (capped) bottle.

The Alvinne Brewery was begun in 2004 by Davy Spiessens and Glenn Castelein. They were joined by Marc DeKeukeleire who brought his own cultivated yeast strain known as Morpheus, which has a very high alcohol tolerance. They aim to produce world class, innovative beers of mixed fermentation, making creative use of malt, water, hops, and yeast, and then aging their base beers on used oak barrels and/or with fruits, berries, or flowers.
