In 1996 Belgian breweries Duvel Moortgat, Affligem, and Scaldis joined with importers/entrepreneurs Don Feinberg and Wendy Littlefield to build Brewery Ommegang, an authentic Belgian-style farmstead brewery in Cooperstown, NY on an old 140-acre hop farm in the Susquehanna River valley.
Ommegang grew rapidly, and today produces 11 varied and award-winning ales year-round, plus many special and seasonal brews. Since 1999 they've hosted an annual festival, "Belgium Comes to Cooperstown", where over 100 breweries from around the world offer the best in Belgian and Belgian-style beers to thousands of guests.
One of the brewery's initial investors, Duvel Moortgat, became the sole owner in 2003. Ommegang beers are distributed to 47 US states and Canada.
