De Dochter van de Korenaar Brewery was started in 2007 by Ronald Mengerink and his wife Monique de Baat, and takes its name (meaning "Daughter of the Ear of Grain") from the 16th century Emperor Charles V's statement that he preferred the "juice of the daughter of the corn" to the "blood of the vine" --- in other words, he loved beer more than wine.
Ronald has been brewing for over 30 years. While honoring the rich traditions of Belgian brewing, he is skillful in adapting ideas from many styles and regions, resulting in unique and widely diverse beers that are sometimes difficult to categorize, but always impeccably crafted and flavorful.
